“We are glad to welcome you as our Head Commissioner, Mr. Runin Pint. Since it’s an emergency we couldn’t arrange for a party,” warmly said Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Jeane Quix. “Nevermind, I am glad to be part of the team,” pleasantly replied Runin.
The entire police force seems to have an animated smile. The helplessness & fear is evident in their eyes. Runin understood the air & jumped straight to the point, “Why did the previous Commissioner resign amid a case?” A deafening silence followed but Jeane took the lead, “Before I answer that Sir, I’d like to explain the case.” “Go ahead!”
The lights turned dim, & the monitor presented a bunch of pictures. “About a month ago, a child went missing. We suspected kidnapping & in a week we found her safe & sound tied in Mr. Jyox Shead’s house. Jyox is a wanted criminal in this town & he is a runaway. Later, another couple of kids went missing. We searched but didn’t find a clue. Sadly, in a week we lost about 20% of kids in the town. Just a couple of days ago the number has turned up to 75%. Our prime suspect is Jyox, & we are still on his hunt. To answer your question, Sir, yesterday Mrs. Ight lost her son too. Since then she hasn’t left her house.”
“And the rumored facts!” a nervous Mrs. Syena said. All heads turned towards her. She is five months pregnant but is as vigilant as the other officers. “Yes, continue Syena,” ordered Runin. Jeane shook his head in affirmation & she continued, “Sir, the facts say most of the kids were last seen in their bedrooms. Also, some civilians saw the person taking their kids away. They reported the sclera of their eyes was red. Since then, they are afraid some supernatural force is behind all this.”
Runin took a deep sigh & commanded, “We will continue the investigation as before. I’ll go & meet the previous Commissioner, Mrs. Ight Erant.” “Roger that, Sir!”
“Rijo is just twelve years old,” sobbing Ight said. Runin had to take the stairs to Rijo’s room where Ight was sitting staring at her son’s bed with shocking eyes. Her tears run dry, “And you know…” suddenly Runin's phone rang. “Sir, Shead reported at the office. He says he has the children & wants to make a deal.” “Seriously! I’ll reach out immediately.” “Mrs. Ight we got Jyox.” Hardly did the expression change she looked straight to Runin & continued, “The person who took Rijo had the same eyes as Rijo’s except it was red.” Runin who was at the door almost stumbled. His head couldn’t make sense of what his ears registered. “I’ll accompany,” said Ight getting up from her chair.
“I’ll take 10% of cash reverses to return the children,” boldly said Jyox. Most of the officers were outside the cabin. The officers were maintaining their cool as Shead had all the children. “You bloody…” Jeane exclaimed. “Take it or leave it!” Jyox slammed Jeane. Suddenly the room turned dark & red eyes appeared in one corner.
“He’s lying. We aren’t related to him,” the unknown voice said. Surprised Shead was sliding himself away before Jeane hit & made him unconscious. Ight hurried towards the eyes to find she couldn’t touch the body nor the eyes. “It’s a technology of the future, I’m present & absent at the same time,” the voice proclaimed. “I’ll explain just once so quietly listen.” The shocked officers did as asked.
“My teammates & I are from the near future. We are not kidnapping your children rather we are taking ourselves with us in the future. You people are incapable of parenting this generation of kids & sooner this will have a drastic effect on the survival of humanity. We’re sorry but Plan Red Way was the only option left for us.”
The words came as an arrow & turned everyone deaf. Officers moved their lips but no words could be heard. “Who are you & who is your leader,” shouted Ight in desperation.
“I am Shenal, daughter of Syena & our leader is Supremo Runin Pint,” the red eyes vanished.
